Represented by the bull and known for its stability and determination, Taurus is the second sign of the zodiac.
It is located in the northern hemisphere, between Aries to the west and Gemini to the east, and the sun passes through it from about April 20 to May 20. The brightest star in this constellation is Aldebaran, a red giant star that symbolises the eye of the bull and means “the follower” in Arabic, probably because it follows the Pleiades across the sky—a cluster of stars, with its most prominent ones named “the seven sisters”, which are deeply tied in both astronomy and mythology.
Taurus’ depiction, as I already mentioned, is the figure of the bull, which, in my personal opinion, perfectly represents anyone born under this zodiac sign.
We find ourselves right in the middle of spring, and what other sign could celebrate this stunning season if not Taurus itself?
Like all the others, this constellation as well is linked to a Greek myth; however, differently from the other ones, this particular tale does not talk about salvation or something tragic happening. None at all.
It narrates, instead, about Zeus, a bull, and seduction.
You’ve read that right.
According to the myth, Europa, a beautiful Phoenician princess, catches the eye of all-knowing Zeus. Therefore, trying to approach her without alarming her, the great god comes up with the genius idea of transforming himself into a gentle, white bull. Europa, captivated by the animal’s calm nature, climbs onto its back, and Zeus, as a bull, swims across the sea and brings the princess to the island of Crete. Only there does he reveal his true identity, but I guess she accepts him, and they become lovers.
Of course, then Zeus places the bull among the stars, honouring forever its strength, unwavering determination, and…seduction.
Yep, you’ve read that right again.
We can say that the animal’s calm demeanour in the tale contrasts deeply with its immense physical power, things that in astrology both well portray someone born under Taurus. Things that, being also a fixed and earth sign, define Taurus as practical, grounded, and connected to the physical world.
This zodiac is also ruled by Venus, the planet of love and beauty, which adds a little bit of sensuality too. People with their zodiac sign in Taurus are described as naturally attuned to the pleasures of life. They tend to love comfort, art, and indulgence. But also as individuals who, once they set their sights on a goal, work persistently towards it.
They’re often depicted as the most practical of the zodiac signs, loyal, extremely stubborn, and at times resistant to change, preferring routine over unpredictability.
As a water sign, I love earth signs.
I really, really love earth signs, and I adore Taurus. There’s something about them, like they understand me and vice versa, and I am undoubtedly convinced that anyone needs and deserves a Taurus in their life.
They are hilarious, a bundle of joy, and so terribly lovely.
Even if sometimes I would like to chop their heads off.
They do love to get on your nerves… and I do love to play their games.
